Garrett College in coordination with the University of Maryland Extension is sponsoring a one-session course, Grow Your Own Greens: Building a Salad Box, at the College?s Northern Outreach Center in Grantsville. The class will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 1-3 p.m. A salad box is a wooden container that is used to grow lettuce. During this class you will receive instructions and materials to build your own box to take home and plant with lettuce seeds. The course is being instructed by Ashley Bodkins who received her B.S. degree in Agronomy from WVU and an A.A. degree in Horticulture from Potomac State College. She works for the University of Maryland Extension where she answers home horticulture questions and coordinates the Maryland Master Gardener Program for Garrett County.
