Kathy Snyder, President of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, will be in Garrett County September 29 to provide a briefing on the upcoming Special Session of the Maryland Legislature. As a result of the 2010 census, the Maryland General Assembly must convene a special Session to realign Congressional Districts. This will likely occur on October 17.
The special session could be quick and uneventful if the General Assembly goes into session just long enough to deal with congressional redistricting. However, the guessing game continues regarding whether they will address issues beyond redistricting, like taxes and transportation funding.
There is no cost to attend and lunch will be Dutch treat. Please let us know if you will be attending by registering online, calling Charlotte at 301 387-6171 or emailing her at charlotte@garrettchamber.com. We hope you will make every effort to attend this important briefing.
