20th Annual National Trails Day®
Join Us! June 2 in Celebration of American Hiking Society’s 20th Annual National Trails Day®
Deep Creek Lake State Park and Garrett Trails are celebrating this year’s 20th National Trails Day® event on June 2, 2012. Join us as we collectively come together to celebrate America's and Garrett’s magnificent trail system and its countless supporters.
The 2012 National Trail Day event theme is America’s Largest TRAILgating Party. Garrett Trails and Deep Creek State Park are moving our party off the pavement to where the scenery is greener and the air is fresher. Come experience Deep Creek Lake State Park, appreciate, and share the natural beauty of Garrett County as we pull together to prune branches, move rocks, rake, grade and spruce up the park trails for the summer season.
Nationwide over 2,000 events are to take place including trail maintenance, hiking, biking and trail celebration. Locally, we are calling on you to come with gloves, tools, energy and enthusiasm to tackle the Meadow Mountain and Brant Mine Trails. “This is a day to come together outdoors to give back to the trails in our region, “explains Theresa MacLennan, Garrett Trails Executive Director. Come discover, enjoy, and care for the public lands trail system in Deep Creek Lake State Park accompanied by Rangers of the Maryland Park Service and Garrett Trails sustainable trail crew and interpretive staff members.
Girl Scouts participating in a National Trails Day event can earn the "Get with the Land" patch. Visit the Girl Scout website for criteria on how to earn the patch and to order your patches today.
