  • Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) Project Grants

  • *The FY27 grant round is underway. Deadline for Intent to Apply is February 2, 2026!!*

    The MHAA FY27 grant round for capital and non-capital heritage projects is now open. This opportunity is for projects beginning in July 2026. Begin the required first step in the application process by filling out the required ITA application, due by 11:59 pm on February 2, 2026. Full applications are due by 11:59 pm on March 31, 2026.

     

    The Maryland Heritage Areas Program provides dollar-for-dollar matching grants to nonprofit organizations and government entities for capital and non-capital projects located within a Certified Heritage Area. Grants can support projects involving historical, cultural or natural resources, sites, events or facilities. Eligible projects must have a heritage tourism component or contribute to research that will directly inform a heritage tourism product.  Full details are available in the program guidelines.  Current funding opportunities and training can be found on the MHT grants page.

    Quick Facts:

    • Capital Project grants up to $100,000 with a 1:1 match (100% cash match or in-kind match - Any combination)
    • Non-Capital Project grants up to $50,000 with a 1:1 match (100% cash match or in-kind match - Any combination)
