Heritage Area At a Glance
'Civil Rights in the US and the History of the NAACP' is part of the celebration of Black History Month at Garrett College. The presentation will be given by Dr. Sarah Garrett, Vice President for Instruction & Student Services at Garrett College. With over 25 years of experience in community college systems, Dr. Garrett brings a rich history with student success and retention. Prior to her service in academia, with a diverse background and experience as an attorney, she has had appointments at the state and national levels. Figuring most prominent amongst those appointments is her service as a civil rights attorney with the NAACP National Headquarters, in both NY and MD, as the Executive Assistant General Counsel, with direct reporting responsibilities to the renowned (late) CEO Rev. Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks.
