About Us

Along with our tradition of comfortable and satisfying lodging, there is a magic at Will O' the Wisp. The name is taken from the most romantic of travel lore and although its origin is widely debated, it always describes mischievous spirits who lure travelers off the ''beaten path''. Guilty as charged. These hallowed grounds have been a ''distraction'' for those in search of special places for nearly three quarters of a century. In the beginning, when the lake was new and prohibition was over, the way was a winding, ambitious uphill trek from anywhere but for those who had been or had heard of its breathtaking sights and rejuvenating charms, it was worth every bump and turn.

Modern travel has made us a weekend get-away; a convenient retreat for business or pleasure. But we've kept our cozy, mid-century modern look. After all, we are a Deep Creek Lake Original. Our warm, white beach and naturally calming surroundings make it an experience, a place to call your own. The road may be less winding but the views are still stunning and the stuff of which memories (and great photos) are made.
